Parenting Can Be Hard Without Support
Parenting is one of the most meaningful — and most challenging — roles we’ll ever take on. No matter how much we love our kids, there are times when we feel worn out, second-guess ourselves, or wonder if we’re doing enough. From toddler meltdowns to teenage struggles, the demands can feel overwhelming, and it’s easy to forget about your own needs along the way.
The connection between a parent and child is so strong that when a child is struggling, it is painful for parents as well. You may have heard the saying that “you are only as happy as your least happy child,” and this certainly seems to be true. We feel our children’s pain and hurt along with them. We long to see our children happy and succeeding in life. Sometimes, even after their struggles are over, we continue to feel hurt for what they have gone through..
Children’s problems are not “one size fits all.” And our children don’t always fit nicely into boxes created by society. Our therapists can help parents feel that someone finally “gets it.”
